Monthly Archives: January 2008

This week’s theme by Mama Podkayne is “Delight”. I wasn’t able to find one photograph that perfectly captured that description so instead, I’ve taken a little license and am devoting this whole post to the delight we have found around here lately. First, the boys found a face painting kit in the playroom yesterday and […]

My name is Stacie. - January 25, 2008 - 10:41 pm

Great pictures! I love the mustaches, and the T-shirts. My son would love both! And creating a comic book sounds fun too. Cute puppy picture! What kind of dog is she?

whimsigal - January 25, 2008 - 11:30 pm

Thanks! Our pup is a German Shorthaired Pointer. She’s so sweet.

MamaK - January 25, 2008 - 11:51 pm

So much cuteness! I can’t even pick a picture that like best. Well, that one of strong man was pretty sweet. I love the shirts, and I love the dog bed. Great stuff.-K

Colleen - January 26, 2008 - 2:40 am

What great photos. And what a lovely day! :)

whimsigal - January 26, 2008 - 2:52 am

Hey MamaK! I’m glad you enjoyed those. We had a lot of fun.

Colleen, it was lovely! Thanks!

Tara - January 26, 2008 - 2:57 pm

Hero shirts… great idea.
I’ll have to run that one past my 7yr. old- Owen.
I have a feeling he might like something to do with being fond of computers!
You take amazing photos.

Stephanie S. - January 26, 2008 - 4:37 pm

I think Trev would like the shirt, too.
He’s been talking (for the first time) of superheros and last couple of days.
He says that he has the DNA of all superheroes. Imagine that! :)
I’ll run it by him.
THanks for the idea!

whimsigal - January 26, 2008 - 5:01 pm

thanks for your comment! Mine love super heroes, pokemon, and the like. I’d love to see what your son comes up with!

I bet Trev would like it. The DNA of all superheroes?! Wow, now that’s really something. With great power comes great responsibility. :) lol

childplay - January 27, 2008 - 2:48 am

The Mario moustaches are great! and the shirts…too cute!

carri - January 28, 2008 - 12:49 pm

Hmmm, I commented yesterday, but I got in a hurry and probably messed something up.

Those mustaches kill me. Love them! And the t-shirts are fantastic! You did a great job sewing on those patches! The boys came up with a great design too.

dlyn - January 28, 2008 - 3:00 pm

Love love love the hero shirts – and the little shadow of a mustache! Looks like 5 O’clock shadow. :)

Gina - January 30, 2008 - 4:05 am

I’ve chosen you for the Excellent Blog Award (which is probably surprising because I never comment on your blog, but I do subscribe!) If you’d like to participate, check out my January 29th post:

Rinnyboo - February 3, 2008 - 11:48 pm

Are you back yet, Lady? We miss you! Hope you had fun….

Shell (in NZ) - February 6, 2008 - 8:02 am

I love Instant Mario and Mario…they are so adorable..what a cool thing to do together, especially for young boys :0) I will pass hte link on to my friend who’s boys are super-hero mad, and she can sew too.

We’ve all been working on things around here. I finally got off my duff and shredded paper for about three and a half hours on Wednesday. Oh yeah, it was the height of entertainment. In my zeal to get it all done (it was a massive pile of paper) I may have accidentally shredded some […]

Wow, girl! You are brave to post a picture of your kitchen in a non-perfect state. That is just about how my kitchen looks right now:) Wanna come over and do projects at my house?

I love that Mario is watching the screen with Iain. Very sweet.

Stephanie S. - January 24, 2008 - 5:56 pm

I was like… “Why is she posting pictures of my messy kitchen?!??”

My project too, today, by the way.

See you in a few hours!!! :)

Joan - January 24, 2008 - 6:39 pm

Yesterday on the spur of the moment, I cleaned up my kitchen. Actually I opened a cabinet in bright sunlight and was a little shocked at the dust. If I had it on a “to do” list, I probably would have procrastinated. I do better on a whim.
I like your green walls. My kitchen walls are green but they are a little brighter (think a hint of lime!) than I wanted. I was trying for olive.
My project is my daughter’s room. I promised her we would re-do it when she went to middle school. We’ve moved it up a year.

SHUGARMAN FAMILY - January 24, 2008 - 7:54 pm

Love the color of your kitchen. Almost the same shade of green as mine! We all have our projects, and ironically enough, mine is to tackle the papers on the computer desk! UGH…I keep saying I will put the mail away and file immediately upon receipt…but it never happens. Just like losing those last 5 pounds…never happens!
Happy day!

whimsigal - January 24, 2008 - 9:59 pm

I’d love to help you! But I didn’t even get to the kitchen project yet. The kids had me working on Super Hero shirts for them. Look for pics of those tomorrow.

LOL!! You’re too funny. You mean you didn’t see me peeking through your window with my telephoto lens?!

It sounds like your kitchen might be the same color as my dining room. I was going for a slightly different color and it’s been electric green for about a year and a half now. I wish my boys gave a crap what their room looked like. I think the most they’d let me do is paint Mario and Luigi on the wall. It sounds like fun re-doing your daughter’s room!

Papers are a real problem for me, too. I had three ginormous stacks to shed over the last couple of days. And the pounds? Ugh. Don’t even get me started on that topic! :)

Joan - January 25, 2008 - 1:32 am

Don’t feel bad. My son’s room is decorated all over with pictures cut out of Sport Illustrated taped onto his walls. Very classy.

MamaK - January 25, 2008 - 2:00 pm

you inspired me so much yesterday! In fact, you made my house sparkle! And you were in the first sentence of my post yesterday! Thanks for the butt kick!-K

Firefly Mom - February 10, 2008 - 9:18 am

A friend of mine had never seen my house in it’s “usual” state (I always did the flight-of-the-bumblebee fluff & stuff before she came). So one day to cheer her up I e-mailed her a photo of my kitchen (looking very much like yours ;)

She’s now using that photo as her computer wallpaper!

It’s A Major Award!

Ok, so I really love the movie, A Christmas Story and have been dying to use that line somehow somewhere. Thank you Laura for providing me with the opportunity to do so! Laura very kindly passed this award out to 10 bloggers and included me on the list. Thank you friend! I feel so special. […]

Joan - January 21, 2008 - 2:57 pm

Congrats. I’m new to your blog but I enjoy reading it.

MamaK - January 21, 2008 - 2:59 pm

Congrats! You desrve it! Thanks for the great reading list, can’t wait to check them out! Yeah, you!

kalurah - January 21, 2008 - 6:08 pm

Aw, shuck-be-darn, Evie!
And this is so much better than a leg lamp! ;)

Rinnyboo - January 21, 2008 - 9:50 pm

Thanks, Evie! I know,I know, my posts are not large in number…I am working on it. It seems to take me forever to get my act together and post something. It really means a lot to me that you think my blog is coool. And, I am so lucky that you live near by too!!

whimsigal - January 21, 2008 - 11:28 pm

Marin, I hope my comment about “posts not large in number” didn’t come across wrong. What I meant was that you pack a lot of punch in the posts you make. A lot of bang for your buck. Did you interpret it that way? I hope so. :)

It’s hard to live a life and maintain a blog!

Stephanie S. - January 22, 2008 - 2:17 pm

Did you not get my comments?
One was “Congratulations!” and “I noticed that you took the good ones – and right quickly, too!” :) By what, like seven in the morning??? :)

And the other was “thanks so much for awarding OLM – it means a lot to me!”

whimsigal - January 22, 2008 - 3:54 pm

Stephanie, I didn’t get your comments. That’s weird. Must be some kind of Blogger snafu.

I took all the good ones by 7am? Ha! Maybe by 7am your time. :) I don’t think I was up that early but I’ll have to go back and check. lol

Congratulations to you as well. I am certainly in good company.

I love you and both your blogs so much. Both awards are quite well deserved. Thank you for recognizing my other blog, too!

Rinnyboo - January 22, 2008 - 4:44 pm

Oh, I totally didn’t take it the wrong way! I knew what you meant. I was just trying to think about why it always takes me so long to post! Thanks for clarifying though:)

childplay - January 22, 2008 - 5:08 pm

I swear I left a comment, too. Must have been a weird glitch?!

So, I’ll repeat…
*clearing throat for acceptance speech*
“You LIKE me! You REALLY LIKE me!”

Thank you!

Sheri - January 23, 2008 - 1:36 pm

That was my first thought CP. Moi? You like reading me? Thank you Evie, it means a lot to me. XOXO :)

whimsigal - January 23, 2008 - 1:47 pm

CP and Sheri, I said the exact same thing on Laura’s blog! LOL Great minds think alike!

carri - January 27, 2008 - 4:13 pm

Wow! Thanks Evie! What a lovely thing to find after a week away!
