Rough Few Days

Well, I overdid it and am paying the price. I’ve been in some pain for a few days which is why I haven’t posted anything recently. Please bear with me. Hopefully I’ll be up to posting something good soon! Love, Evie

Feel better soon!

whimsigal - February 29, 2008 - 3:22 am

Thank you very much! I’m glad you’re still coming around here!

Cate - February 29, 2008 - 5:28 am

Oh dear – I should have warned you about this stage of the recovery process! You start to feel a bit better, then overdo things & knock yourself for a six (cricketing terms here in case you don’t understand the sport analogy!)

Rest up girl & take things slowly. You’ve had a major op & the body will feel pretty tired for a while yet.

carri - February 29, 2008 - 12:14 pm

Girl, you take all the time you need. Rest up and don’t worry about us, we’ll be here when you feel all better.

Madeline - February 29, 2008 - 1:15 pm

Hang in there! It is so hard to stop. Get lots of good movies…I’m sure you’ve done that, right. See “Once” – such a good film.

whimsigal - February 29, 2008 - 1:35 pm

Cate,
No worries, friend. I had read that one needs to continue to take it easy even when feeling much better. I just neglected to heed that advice! Now though I’m back to lying around and letting people help me! It is amazing how tired you get from doing the simplest things.

Carri,

Thank you friend! Hey, I wore my socks to my checkup on Friday and got compliments on them from my doc and his nurse. They were impressed that they were handmade!

Madeline,
So nice to see you! You’re so right about it being hard to stop. Funny that you mention getting a lot of good movies because just yesterday, another friend who comments here mentioned Netflix. I had cancelled the service a while ago but after her recommendation I signed back up and today I should be enjoying the British version of The Office! In fact, I’m going to go right now and add the movie “once” to my list!

Thanks all for your comments!

love,
evie

Joan - March 1, 2008 - 2:08 pm

Be patient and take it easy – not advice I usually follow.

whimsigal - March 1, 2008 - 2:13 pm

LOL Me either! In this case though I will follow it!

Thanks, Joan!

Playing with Play-doh

How funny is it that when I began typing the title of this post, it popped up automatically because I had used it before?! Oh well. The boys were busy last night as they rediscovered the joy that Play-doh can bring. It was an evening where their passion for all things Super Mario Bros collided […]

Shell (in NZ) - February 25, 2008 - 3:06 am

I was just thinking about PLay-Doh this morning ,and you’ve inspired me :0) I ahvne’t read al lthe posts, but see you;re having a hard time…hoping things get better quickly. Of course the boys are leanring just fine, even if you are not there in the same way as usual :0) And it looks to me like yur eldest’s writing is beautiful!

whimsigal - February 25, 2008 - 3:30 am

Hey Shell!

Things are getting better here day-by-day and 4 more weeks until I’m given the all clear by my doc and we get back to “normal”. :)

Thanks for your comment about my eldest’s writing as I think it’s beautiful, too.

I hope you do something fun with Play-doh!

Cate - February 25, 2008 - 7:14 am

As usual, I love your pics! The colours came out really well.

How’s the tummy going mate?

cate (one of your NZ fans!)

whimsigal - February 25, 2008 - 12:13 pm

Hey Cate!

I love my Kiwi friends! Glad you liked the photos.

My tummy feels GREAT! I haven’t really been in pain for almost two weeks. I just get tired really easily. Do you remember how you were at this point and how long it took you to feel fully energized?

Rinnyboo - February 25, 2008 - 4:24 pm

Hi Evie!

I have been thinking about you a lot lately. I hope you are doing well-it sounds like you are starting to feel back to normal now.

I did my doula training this weekend and as one of our activities we were asked to design our ideal births out of art supplies like play-doh and pipe cleaners and markers. I made mine out of pipe cleaners but spent hours and hours playing with play-doh while my instructor talked.

There is something so satisying to me about working play-doh in my hands while doing something else at the same time. I bet I was playing with play-doh at the same time as Iain and Ryan.

Talk to you soon!
Marin

whimsigal - February 25, 2008 - 5:44 pm

Hey Marin!

I emailed you last week, did you get it?

Sounds like your class is interesting! I don’t know what I would do if asked to create my ideal birth out of play-doh!!!

So glad to hear from you!

Evie

kalurah - February 25, 2008 - 5:58 pm

Hey! We’ve been playing with Play-doh, here, too.
The youngest had it in his lap last night when he fell asleep in the car.
So, today I get to clean out his car seat, coat and pants!!
:P

whimsigal - February 25, 2008 - 6:13 pm

Wow, it’s really wild how many of us are into the same things at the same time! Is that weird to anyone else but me?? I don’t envy you today, Kalurah. One thing I despise cleaning up is Play-doh that’s been out too long, not to mention stuck to clothes, etc! Hopefully it’s not too bad for you!

Joan - February 25, 2008 - 9:33 pm

I miss the smell of play-doh.

piscesgrrl - February 26, 2008 - 9:32 pm

Those playdough creations are super cool. YOu take great pics – what kind of camera do you have again? I think my husband is buying me one for my bday! But shhh, he doesn’t know that I know that I’m not supposed to know. Or something like that.

So… didja show your boys how to make a poop masterpiece out of playdough? Jus’ wondering.

*wink*

Friendship and Socks

There are some extraordinary folks in this world and it just so happens that many of them read here. I count myself quite lucky to know so many wonderful people and to be able to call them my friends to boot. Everyone has been so kind in offering me encouraging words during my recovery period […]

Evie, your kids are precious!! I just found out I am going to have one of my own. ;)

I looooved Julie and Julia. As much as you like cooking I know you will adore it too. Very fun.

whimsigal - February 21, 2008 - 9:04 pm

Congratulations!!!!! That is very exciting news!!!! I’m really, really, happy for you!

MamaK - February 22, 2008 - 12:05 am

Evie! Darn! I am bummed that you are down today! But be proud of your little men. They stepped up and helped the mama. They may have only thought they were filling the dishwasher, little did they know your heart was to the brim as well. Feel better-K

whimsigal - February 22, 2008 - 12:57 am

K- I was proud! Very much so. You’re right about my heart being full! Today was just a rough day because I was extraordinarily tired. I slept A LOT. LOL

Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I go for my two week checkup in the afternoon.

Stephanie S. - February 22, 2008 - 1:19 am

It’s so so sweet when the babes know you’re off, or sad, and they’re tender and soft with us.
I’m glad you’ve had some of that loveliness.
The socks are gorgeous!!
How lovely to receive them.
I’m glad you’re feeling loved all over.
Steph (who lives in cropped lounge pants.)

whimsigal - February 22, 2008 - 1:29 am

Steph, LOL I live in mine too. I call it my uniform. Carri did a beautiful job on these socks. They haven’t left my feet today!

It’s cold outside but my friends make it so warm in my heart!

It fills my heart so to make things for others. And even more when those things are appreciated. I’m so happy that you love the socks. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the book.

I’m sorry to hear that you are having a bad day. And how wonderful are those boys? Rest up and you’ll be back to normal before you know it!

whimsigal - February 22, 2008 - 1:54 am

Thank you again, Carri! I’ve been staring at my feet all afternoon!

childplay - February 25, 2008 - 1:12 am

Those socks are beeeeyoutiful!

I’m glad you have such great and understanding helpers for when you need to rest and lay back a bit. (Don’t you love when doctors tell you to ‘rest’ at home?!???!)

whimsigal - February 25, 2008 - 1:36 am

CP,

Right?? Rest at home. They don’t have kids obviously! LOL I was totally going to try and participate in your contest, too, but am finding that I get tired really fast.

Please have another one so I can join in soon!

:)

piscesgrrl - February 26, 2008 - 9:29 pm

Gorgeous socks, and I’m impressed you can let your ankles hang out like that. It’s so cold here I wear a scarf and hat and a blanket wrapped toga-style!

Yer body’s tellin’ ya to take it slow – now listen grrl! :)
