Monthly Archives: January 2009

We have had some joyful moments here lately. First, Ryan lost his first baby tooth and then had a lucrative visit from the tooth fairy. Then today, we headed down to one of the parks in our neighborhood and he overcame some fears while we were there. Take a look: This slide is really tall, […]

Well, be careful what you wish for! Here in Iowa we have at least 8 inches of snow on the ground and we’re supposed to get 3-5 more tonight. Temps? 7 below zero windchill.

What I wouldn’t give for a tad of warmth right now…

Thanks, Steph. :)

Chrissy, they always look happy only because I never take pics of them when they’re hating me. LOL Only kidding!! Sort of. :) They’re pretty happy-go-lucky kids, really. I feel lucky.

Karen, I know you guys are totally covered up out there! 7 below windchill? Man, that is COLD. We’re going to see temps dip into the single digits this week for the first time since 2005. We just want one good snow!! We haven’t had one in a loooong time. Hope things warm up for you soon!

Your pictures are so good. Man! You’re doing the right thing doing photography as a pro.

Jesse has had a lot of fear too. It is really challenging for me at times to not feel responsible in some way for it. But it is his journey. I know how that feels when they overcome their fear. congratulations Ryan!

We’re losing things here

Check out Ryan’s new look: I can’t believe it. He lost his first tooth!!!! Oh my goodness!!! He’s going to be 7 in a couple of months and I can’t believe that either. He’s my baby but not a baby by any means. Oh!!! It’s just crazy how fast the time goes by. I’m glad […]

Good for him! Milestones that hit me this year: no more elementary school and Stephen getting his license next month.
Did the tooth fairy make a visit?

mamak - January 10, 2009 - 1:13 pm

He is so cute! He looks so much like you, Evie! So then, I guess that makes you cute too?!? Congrats on that milestone, and hugs to the mama.-K

I just had to share a story that just happened to Squirrel. Let me start by saying that she has 4 loose teeth.

After playing outside she came in to have a bowl of applesauce. She sat down and ate about half the bowl, then screamed~ “where’s my tooth!!”. Her tooth fell out and we couldn’t find it anywhere. We tried to look outside and we looked inside, it wasn’t anywhere we could see. It turns out that she most likely swallowed the tooth.

The look on her face was priceless!!

Woo! Happy New Year!

At the end of 2008, my husband took two weeks off from work to spend time with us during the holidays and it was wonderful. It was life changing! Not only were we able to reconnect as a family but Sean and I really kicked some ass and got some projects done around the house. […]

Eric doesn’t even know where dishes go in this house.
He’ll just invent somewhere new every time!
(Though, amazingly -as I often point out to him- he knows right where to find it when he’s looking for it!!

Happy, Happy New Year!!

Chrissy - January 6, 2009 - 2:22 pm

That is great! I had been purging before the holidays, but I feel like I need to do it all over again.

Happy New year :)

I feel your joy having the love of unclutter that I do. Smart with Ryan. I might try that with Catherine. My son is a real slob but he will clean it up if told. I believe Catherine on the other hand gets so overwhelmed at the thought of what she has to do it paralyzes her. I’ve found if her room has gotten too out of hand, it helps if we tackle it together – that way I can keep her on track. I wish our master bathroom was finished. Quite challenging when we had guests last weekend.

mamak - January 6, 2009 - 5:41 pm

You and me are on the same track. Doesn’t it feel swell! Keep on!-K

Carri - January 6, 2009 - 8:39 pm

I love when I say something kind of smart ass and the kids take me up on it. Happy New Year!

Kez - January 14, 2009 - 10:25 pm

A very belated happy new year to you too!!
