State of Flux

Not sure why it is, maybe it’s the changing season, but my life feels as though it has been in a great state of flux lately.  I feel restless, like something is coming.  The urge for me to do something wild and different is so strong and the call is hard to ignore.  We flirted […]

Hi Evie – I love ranunculus too. They’re one of my favorites because, not only are they beautiful, but they are perfect to plant this time of year because they can take the colder weather.
I love silver hair! What a fun change that will be for you and a great way to lift your spirits. And joining the gym – that’s always a good idea – good for the body and mind.
I’m sorry your plans for buying a new home fell thru but your current home looks just beautiful! – I love your dining room and your craft room. What a wonderful place to create. xo
Oh, and I love your burgers!

Evie - April 9, 2015 - 11:56 pm

Hey Susan! The ranunculus are so gorgeous!! I may see if I can get some to plant in the yard for next year. They bloom so much!

You know, as far as the house thing falling through, I feel like it all worked out the way it should have. We decided to refinance our current home instead and will have it paid off in 15 years, which will be really nice. We had gotten all wrapped up in having a bigger home when we should just focus on the home we have.

I actually went to the gym and signed up today so look out world! I’m hitting the ground running!!

Love these photos, the flowers are amazing.

Evie - April 14, 2015 - 9:43 pm

Thank you, Carlin! This time of year is amazing for flowers!

YES!! Do something crazy with your hair!! I’ve had purple hair many, many years ago and it was great! it gave me a real boost of happiness. Also, that fitness facility is a great idea. There is nothing like moving your body to help you in increasing both your mood and your weight. I’ve always been a huge swimmer and have been into yoga for many years now. To me it’s perfection. Finding the right kind of fitness activity is sometimes difficult so don’t give up if you don’t like it at first. Experiment and have fun, i’m pretty sure there is something for everyone. And I can totally understand they state of restlessness you are in because it’s happening to me as well. It actually happens to me every spring…I kind of become lethargic during winter and wake up again in spring, like bears…:)

Those burger cupcakes are amazing! I lack the attention to detail to make something like that happen, though my kids would love it. And yes, go for the platinum silver hair- my friend just did it and it’s so flattering.

A Snow Day!

Yay! It took almost all winter to get here but we finally got a substantial snow here in NC. Oh, snow had flirted with us a couple of times but this snow was the one we had been waiting for. You know the kind I’m talking about, where the whole world is muffled due to […]

Wow! I picked the perfect post to read to start my morning!
That breathtaking blanket of snow! Those beautiful color combinations in your crochet blanket! That delicious-looking breakfast! The adorable baby! Be still, my heart!

Evie - March 6, 2015 - 1:51 pm

GAH! You know what I just discovered about my afghan?? I have been goofing up the edges the whole time. It looks like an hour glass right now. LOL!!! I’m not going to stop because it’s more than halfway there but dang!! Oh well, I know what not to do on the next one. :)

susan - March 9, 2015 - 12:37 am

Great photos, Evie. Your world looks beautiful covered in a blanket of snow.
Eggs and home fries for breakfast – looks delicious. I sometimes make that for dinner too because we like it so much. I love your blanket and your beautiful baby picture.

WOW!! You live in a wonderful place. And…near a lake! Lovely, lovely pictures. I live in a place with a climate of its own. when in the nearby town, which is just 1,5 km away it’s snowing, around my home there’s a real ice storm. If in the town is raining, we’re having monsoons. But not this year. This year just a few snowflakes fell around my house, while EVERYWHERE else they had meters and meters of snow! Ha! But I actually missed snow this year, I love it so much. In manageable doses.

Yes! The sides can be tricky when finding the right chain from the hook, especially while changing colors. I’ve also discovered when changing colors, crochet about two stitches on the new row, then GENTLY pull the yarn tails of the previous color and new color to help give stability to the sides. When you pull, you’ll see it tightening up, just don’t ‘bunch’ it up. Hope that makes sense. :)

That snow is so WHITE! Since we’ve had none at all this winter, I had forgotten how serenely still and pure a good dumping of snow actually is. I have been working on perfecting my biscuits, so yes, please share your recipe with us!

Evie - April 10, 2015 - 12:05 am

Ok, Cassadie! I will share my biscuit recipe in my next post!!!

Kim Adams Morgan - April 22, 2015 - 10:39 pm

Evie, Kim here from the class. What part of NC? We are in Northern CA now, but still own a home in Western NC near the NC/SC border. It’s smack in the middle of horse country, which is why we built there. It’s rented now. It’s in an equestrian/lake community. We love NC.

Evie - April 22, 2015 - 11:00 pm

Kim, we’re in Greensboro, pretty much in the middle of the state! How glorious to have a home in western NC!! I would love that.
