This is what it looks like at our house today: It’s snowing! Hopefully we’ll be able to get out and play in it once it accumulates a little more. They’re not calling for much but we should get a couple of inches which will be enough to satisfy the boys’ desire to get out and […]

They’re both beautiful!
Makes me wanna break out a canvas myself!!

MamaK - January 19, 2008 - 10:18 pm

love the art! I’m such a sucker for spotted dinos! Glad you got some snow. We might get some later too. I will take a photo for you. The kids and I are going to attempt to make cracker candy from the chickens in the road blog. It looks so yummy. Enjoy the snow!-K

My name is Stacie. - January 19, 2008 - 10:20 pm

My son is playing at his cousins today, so my husband and I had the day alone. A nice day. Hope you get your snow!

carri - January 20, 2008 - 12:59 am

We had snow too! Enough to even build a little snowman. He had lots of leaves and grass in him but he was so cute. Sadly he was massacred with the ninja swords before I could get a picture. Oh well…

Love how different the paintings are! It is so amazing how their personalities really shine through.

whimsigal - January 20, 2008 - 3:11 am

I would love to see something you create! :)

K- Holy moly. I looked at the cracker candy recipe on the blog you mentioned and dang! I might have to make that myself tomorrow! That smack looks delicious.

Stacie – How nice for you and your hubby to get some alone time! I’m jealous!

I was wondering if you guys were going to get any snow! We built a little snowman, too. I’m going to post his picture here tomorrow.

Hope you all had a wonderful day!

Cate - January 20, 2008 - 8:52 pm

Love the snow pic – looks like a postcard.

We now have warm, muggy, cyclonic rain -give me snow any day!

piscesgrrl - January 21, 2008 - 5:27 am

Hey grrl, I’m giving you an award! So don your red carpet duds and come on over. :)

Bridget - January 21, 2008 - 2:53 pm

Just came across your blog…yay! We are homeschoolers, too.

That picture of the snow is so beautiful…I wish we’d see a scene like that out our window in south Texas. :)

Gorgeous. - January 24, 2008 - 9:17 pm

The SNOW … Oh so beautiful!!!! What a fabulous picture. I love the boy’s art too… I wonder if they have any at our BB&B !!

** runs off to look!! **

whimsigal - January 24, 2008 - 10:11 pm

I love snow but I love rain too. Makes me want to curl up with a good book!

Thanks for stopping by! We used to live in Irving many years ago and one thing I missed about being a more northern southerner was the snow. We got ice there once but that was it!

I found them hanging on one of the columns in the back of the store. Most stores have the same layout, I think. Good luck! It’s a steal of a deal.

And we hiked

Yesterday, we were pretty tired from the party we attended the night before. I didn’t drink and Sean didn’t overdo it but we were up late and, apparently, we’re getting too old for that. LOL Anyway, I had told Sean previously that one thing I wanted to do on New Year’s Day was get out […]

Wow. Those are beautiful photos. My new camera takes the worst pictures EVER, and of course it’s the camera I BEGGED my husband to buy. Won’t be hearing the end of that anytime soon.

whimsigal - January 2, 2008 - 6:45 pm

Hey! Thanks a lot! Glad you like the photos. Sorry to hear about your camera! That really sucks. Is there any way to…I hesitate to utter the word…exchange it for another?

Stephanie S. - January 3, 2008 - 4:45 am

Isn’t it funny how the heart is so filled to bursting with such things?
All it takes nowadays is hearing our man playing in the next room with the babes, laughing and shouting in delight, and we get all gushy.
Now that’s romantic.
He definitely gets extra points for all “I only want you to be happy” comments.
Life is so good.

whimsigal - January 3, 2008 - 5:09 am

Oh Steph, that is SO true. Truly, there is nothing that can set a heart to pounding like a man interacting with his kids or doing the dishes just because or anything in a similar vein. It’s heady stuff.

Life IS good. Hope you are, too.

I’ve been reading at your blog and have been enjoying the recent posts but haven’t commented because you know, I’m a freak. Your posts are so eloquent and I’m…well, not eloquent. I am there though and reading and pondering your beautiful words, friend!

KMDuff - January 3, 2008 - 5:44 am

One of my favorite childhood memories involves climbing a small cliff and jumping off it, as a family. Walls are great for climbing! :) Looks like a good time.

MamaK - January 4, 2008 - 12:02 am

Hi there-
Been checking out your blog for a few days. I love your pics, stories and your journey. I am just starting to unschool my kids as well, after a year of homeschooling. I have a blog as well, a link to you is on my blog. Keep on snapping, good stuff-K

whimsigal - January 4, 2008 - 12:33 am

K-duff, I used to love doing that, too. Oone of my goals as a child was to try and run straight up a wall like they did in cartoons. Never succeeded but it sure was fun trying!

Thanks for your comment! I’m so glad to hear that you all are on the unschooling road as well! Please come back and visit often. I’m coming to your blog right now!

Deana - January 4, 2008 - 2:56 am

I’ve been enjoying your pictures…and reading about your interests too!

whimsigal - January 4, 2008 - 4:05 am

I’m glad you’ve been enjoying reading here! After reading your profile I see that you’re into photography, too. Any tips you want to offer are greatly appreciated!

Please return and visit often!

Rinnyboo - January 4, 2008 - 6:43 pm

Wowza! Great pictures! I especially love the landscape pic with the boys running.

I am SO happy for you that you have such great men in your life. I hope that 2008 is as wonderful for you as it was on this day!

whimsigal - January 4, 2008 - 7:00 pm

Marin! Girl, I was getting worried about you after not hearing from you for a few days! Boy am I glad to “see” you here.

I had some photoshop help with that picture you mentioned, just to amplify the colors a bit.

Thank you for your very sweet comment!

Sandra Dodd - January 5, 2008 - 6:49 pm

I lifted your wall. Well, I lifted an image of your wall; nothing much could lift that wall!!

whimsigal - January 6, 2008 - 2:17 am

Shoot! Lift anything you like! I”m just flattered as all get out that you found something interesting here. I’ve read your book, “Moving a Puddle” and just loved it.

Thanks so much for “lifting” me! (in more ways than one)

Play Days

We’ve been spending a lot of time around here playing. The boys (big and small) got a bunch of fun things for Christmas and it’s taken several days for us to get to much of it. Night before last, we played Monopoly, Nintendo’s version, and it was a lot of fun. Until the kids got […]

Aaah, resolutions! lol
been writing about that one the last couple of days! :)

I got (picded out myself) a photography book for Christmas. I haven’t checked it out too thoroughly, yet.
My dad is shopping for a new slr, I think I’ll encourage him so that he can pass his two year old dinosaur down to me! :)
Just kidding, but I am going to mention it to him!

I have yet to even tackle photoshop. All I do is fix the color and exposure 0 and trim, of course.
Lawd, I just don’t have the time!!!
Glad to hear that all is peaceful and happy with you.
Miss you.

whimsigal - December 30, 2007 - 11:34 pm

Photoshop is some intimidating software, let me tell ya. I have a great book though that demystifies it somewhat, it’s just, like you said, finding the time to read it!

I miss you too! What can we do about that? Have you gotten any farther in the book I sent?

carri - December 30, 2007 - 11:48 pm

It is so exciting when something finally clicks because of new information or whatever! I’m so happy for you!

As for resolutions, I make them every year. Sort of goals that I really want to work on. They get edited during the year to reflected whatever changes have taken place in my daily life. I love setting goals for myself. Ever the list maker.

KMDuff - December 31, 2007 - 1:51 am

I’m glad your boys are loving their sims game. I play Sims 2 ( a PC version) when I have any spare time (none lately), it is a fun game.

I think its awesome how much fun you are having with photography. Very inspiring.

whimsigal - December 31, 2007 - 3:24 am

Hey Carri! I’m a big list maker, too. This year I think I’m going to make the list but just not call them resolutions.

Hey KMD!

I almost picked up the PC version for Ryan yesterday but went with the DS version instead since Iain has it for DS and they can play together. Can you play with other people online with the PC version? THat would be really cool!

You commented on my newfound love for photography and I must tell you, it makes my heart swell just thinking about it, that’s how much I enjoy it. If my husband hadn’t bought me the camera, I wouldn’t have discovered how much I enjoy it. I really feel so thankful that he turned me on to it.

KMDuff - December 31, 2007 - 3:39 am

No, they had a Sims Online in the past, but it really turned into a weird version of the game, kind of a dating world or something. It is off line now. What I do though is participate in websites with story writing and challenges and game modifications and custom objects and clothing. I have an XBox version (but no xbox anymore ironically), that was really fun, but I missed being able to make and use custom clothing and objects. Writing and reading stories is a lot of fun too.

Anyway, I think its fun your kids can play it together and enjoy it. It is a fun game.

whimsigal - December 31, 2007 - 3:45 am

Oh yeah. I can see how it could get weird. Isn’t it wild how a game can turn into so much more, like writing stories??

piscesgrrl - December 31, 2007 - 5:33 am

I’m a photography junkie wannabe. So when I get a good camera, get photoshop, get some good lenses, some money, and some time, I’ll join ya! No, really!

sheri - December 31, 2007 - 8:53 pm

One class that I’m taking this semester is Intro to Photography. I have to say mostly because of you and the pictures of your kiddos. :) They’re so adorable! Happy New Year Evie!

Cate - December 31, 2007 - 9:04 pm

And I’m with her!! :-)
